SELEX training@INFORMM

On April 22, 2019, Mr Mohamad Zulkeflee Sabri (a PhD candidate in chemical engineering from the Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) MICET, Melaka) began his SELEX training@INFORMM at INFORMM Kelantan focusing on DNA aptamer development. He was supervised by Dr Khairul Mohd Fadzli Mustaffa with the help of Mr Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Kamarudin in the one-month training programme. Using his predicted in-silico truncated DNA aptamer, Mr Zulkeflee proved the predicted sequence binding against his antigen target using a wet lab procedure. At the end of the training, Mr Zulkeflee was taken to taste authentic Kelantan local food during the breaking of fast with Dr Khairul’s team.

This SELEX training@INFORMM is a one-month programme designed to empower participants by providing the understanding and hands-on antibody engineering experience especially the SELEX technology which is part of the INFORMM Higher Institution Centre of Excellent (HICoE) phase II programme (2017-2019). This programme offers an opportunity to local and international industry, post-doctorate, postgraduate and undergraduate participants to experience cutting-edge research at INFORMM.

INFORMM will also have its second Aptamer Selection Workshop in July 2019. Interested participants are welcomed to join the training and workshop. For enquiries, contact Dr Khairul Mohd Fadzli Mustaffa (khairulmf@usm.my).
