Biosensors Workshop

26th June 2018 - A 4-day workshop on “Nano-micro technology-based sensing approaches for diagnostic application: From lateral flow devices to microfluidics assay” was held from 2nd to 5th July 2018 at INFORMM, USM Main Campus. This workshop was co-organised with the Collaborative Microelectronic Design Excellence Centre (CEDEC), USM.

The workshop combined seminars and hands-on sessions by experienced and outstanding invited speakers and facilitators from academia and industry involved in the development of lateral flow, biosensors, and basic microfluidics system with sensor detection. The integrated learning methods and hands-on training reinforced with lecture materials will allow participants to apply the techniques from this workshop in their own research lab.

The theoretical aspect from the seminars entailed current trends in the development of lateral flow and microfluidics for biosensor. The speakers were Professor Dr. Rahmah Noordin (INFORMM, USM), Professor Dr. Mohd Adzir Mahdi (Faculty of Engineering, UPM), Professor Dr. Mohammed Zourob (Alfaisal University, KSA), Associate Professor Dr. Asrulnizam (CEDEC, USM), Dr. Klaus Hochleitner (GE Heatlthcare, Germany), Dr. Warrick Su (Zensor R&D Co., Taiwan), Dr. Yazmin Bustami (School of Biological Sciences, USM), Dr. Raja Chinnappan (Alfaisal University, KSA) and Mr. Jeff Chen (BioDot Inc, Taiwan).
