SCIENCE OUTREACH : MAKING AN IMPACT ON CARE HOMES (Series II)
30th May 2016- INFORMM Kubang Kerian warmly welcomed participants from Lilbanat Darul Naim Orphanage as part of science awareness initiative under the ‘Program Lawatan Kasih Anak-Anak Yatim Lilbanat Darul Naim’. The programme was jointly organised by Dental Clinic & Oral Gallery from School of Dental Sciences (PPSG), Anatomy Department from School of Medical Sciences (PPSP), BRAINetwork, Islamic Center and Media & Public Relations Center.
The programme aimed to introduce the underprivileged students to advanced learning and research facilities in Universiti Sains Malaysia with the hope to motivate and encourage them to explore the captivating world of science. The event kicked off with an opening remark by the postgraduate student representative, Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Kamarudin, followed by a trip to Dental Clinic (PPSG) USM where the participants were provided free dental examinations. The eager learners were then given a comprehensive tour at Oral Gallery, Anatomy Museum and BRAINetwork Center. Several fun brain teasers and games were conducted at BRAINetwork Center to encourage active participation of the orphans. The programme was well received by all participants. We would like to express our gratitude to all volunteers who have helped make this event successful.
