Research Overview 1

Anti-cancer therapeutic potential of natural products

The recent discovery of microRNAs has added an exciting new layer of research interest in the fields of medical research in general including cancer. His work mainly on MicroRNA–mediated regulation of apoptosis in cancer cells by various natural products. Besides that, he also studies the molecular mechanism of cell cytotoxicity of natural products. These fundamental findings may provide clues to further our understanding of the mechanisms and roles of microRNAs as key regulators of apoptotic programmed cell death induced by natural products in cancer cells and their prospect in the future medical application, especially in the development of green natural products based anticancer medicine.

Research Overview 2

Pharmacological activities of standardized plants secondary metabolites

His research also concentrate on evaluation of plants secondary metabolites in biological and pharmacological activities (Plant extraction, standardization of plant extract, antitoxoplasma activity, antimicrobial activity, antioxidant activity, hepatoprotective activity, prevention of biofilm formation by C. albicans, wound healing activity, anticancer activity, antidiarrheal activity and toxicology studies) and understanding the mechanism of action of the standardized extract or bioactive compound on various pathogenic microbes such as Candida albicans, Helicobacter pylori, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Aspergillus fumigatus.

Research Overview 3

Animal Research

His research also concentrates on using the animal model to prove the efficacy natural product which showed good activity at in vitro level. He uses the animal model in acute and chronic oral toxicity study, wound healing activity, infected wound healing activity, hepatoprotective study and in vivo antimicrobial study.
