International Workshop on Lateral Flow Assay and Biosensor Technologies
Kelantan – A 4-day workshop on Lateral Flow Assay and Biosensor Technologies was held at INFORMM, USM Health Campus from 17th to 20th June 2019. The workshop was a combination of seminars and hands-on sessions by the speakers covering multiple topics on the development of lateral flow assay, optical biosensors, electrochemical biosensors and Malaysia regulatory for medical devices.
The speakers were Professor Dr Mohammed Zourob (Alfaisal University), Professor Dr Mohd Adzir Mahdi (Faculty of Engineering, UPM), Associate Professor Dr Aziah Ismail (INFORMM, USM), Associate Professor Dr Asrulnizam Abd Manaf (CEDEC, USM), Dr Klaus Hochleitner (GE Healthcare, Germany), Dr Shimaa Eissa (Alfaisal University), Dr Yazmin Bustami (School of Biological Sciences, USM), Dr Warrick Su (Zensor R&D Co., Taiwan), Dr Jonathan How (GE Healthcare, Singapore), Dr Anthony V. Lemmo (BioDot Inc, Taiwan), and Mr Yusuf Mohd Johari (Malaysia Medical Device Authority).
More than 20 participants including university lecturers, industrial entrepreneurs and postgraduate students, participated in the workshop. The participants were from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Universiti Tun Hussein Onn (UTHM), Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), Universiti Selangor (UNISEL), government agencies including Institute for Medical Research (IMR), SIRIM Berhad (SIRIM), Malaysian Pepper Board (MPB) and also an international university, the University of Philippines (UP).
