Antioxidant & Antimicrobial Workshop

Penang – 4th April 2018. A 2-day workshop themed “Analytical Techniques in Antioxidant & Antimicrobial Activity: Laboratory hands-on to manuscript preparation for journal publication” was held at INFORMM, Penang Campus. This hands-on workshop covered lectures and laboratory sessions on the latest technology in analytical techniques including antioxidant and antimicrobial activity assays used especially for herbal based product analysis. Methods including sample preparation, antioxidant assays with different modes of action and antimicrobial activities of bacteria, yeast and filamentous fungus were conducted. Experienced lecturers from INFORMM shared their knowledge on antioxidant and antimicrobial evaluation whereas the participants were guided on manuscript preparation for publication. The organizer hopes that this workshop will help in the development of specific skills and competencies needed by professionals in the field of antioxidant and antimicrobials.
