Antibody Engineering Workshop

Kubang Kerian – March 6th 2018. An inaugural workshop on Antibody Engineering: Introduction to Phage Display Technology was successfully organized at INFORMM, Universiti Sains Malaysia Health Campus in Kelantan from 6th Mar – 8th Mar 2018. The three-day workshop was planned in collaboration with the Department of Higher Education Malaysia under the HICoE program.  Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lim Theam Soon and Dr. Leow Chiuan Herng were the main facilitators for the workshop together with the HICoE team of INFORMM. Topics covered during the workshop were mainly associated with the construction of combinatorial antibody libraries expressed on the surface of phage and selection of desired antibodies from the library. The workshop received an overwhelming response from professional researchers from various well-established institutions in Malaysia including Institute for Medical Research (IMR), Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) and Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). The knowledge transferred from the workshop is expected to provide the participants a better insight towards the development of antibody based diagnostics and therapeutics technology in Malaysia.
