The MoU is an important step in establishing collaborations in several research and educational areas between KMU and USM’s Schools of Medical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and INFORMM. KMU is one of the top ten Iranian Medical Universities and their strengths are in epidemiology, systematic reviews, futures studies and HIV-surveillance. KMU has a narcotic alkaloid extraction centre, national animal laboratory and an incubator centre that can host more than 20 affiliated start-ups. USM’s Schools of Medical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and INFORMM have established several areas of research excellence in their respective fields. With many common interests, there are great potentials in establishing partnerships in research as well as academic programmes between the two organisations. Exchange of staff and students, and collaboration in research projects, degree programmes, student supervision, and organisation of scientific events are some of the ways that this MoU can be utilised to cement the relationship between the two organizations.
