Community Advisor Meeting: Dr. Wong Lai Yong

An Industry & Community Advisory Panel (ICAP) meeting was held on 12 October 2017.  Our Community Advisor, Dr. Wong Lai Yong visited us for a discussion on student mobility programmes. Dr Wong was a scholar of Rotary Yoneyama Memorial Foundation, and a trained professional consultant in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), currently consulting several Japanese multinational corporations. She works closely with Japanese and mainland Chinese counterparts for student exchange progammes, especially to Penang. She gave suggestions to enhance the contents of INFORMM's Mobility Program , where the program can be customised and components of University and Corporate Social Responsibilities can be added. From her experience, Penang is an attractive destination for students from not only the Asian region but the world over due to our history as a cultural melting pot. She highlighted activities that are unique to Penang, that can be taken advantage of. In the future, Dr. Wong will be invited to lecture and share her experience in serving the community, especially on the education front in our MSc Mixed Mode course and other suitable settings.
