Undergraduate Research Opportunity Programme (UROP) at INFORMM is a training model founded in 2019, designed to promote and cultivate research interest and research-oriented critical thinking among medical/biomedical/health sciences undergraduate students. The training is one of INFORMM’s strategies for encouraging undergraduate students to pursue postgraduate studies and prepare them for an innovative research journey. The essentials of UROP include lectures on molecular biology, its relation to disease mechanisms, and demonstrations and hands-on practical sessions on techniques in molecular biology, including their utilization in fundamental research and disease diagnostics. The duration for UROP is about three to four weeks, and currently free of charge to USM undergraduates. Currently, UROP is only conducted at INFORMM Health Campus, Kelantan.
