Associate Professor Dr Nurulhasanah Othman

Dr. Nurulhasanah Othman is an Associate Professor at the Institute for Research in Molecular Medicine (INFORMM), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). She earned her PhD in Molecular Medicine from USM in 2012 and has since established herself as a leading expert in proteomics and molecular biology. Her research is dedicated to neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), with a specific focus on identifying biological markers for diseases such as amoebiasis (Entamoeba histolytica) and soil-transmitted helminth infections. By utilizing advanced proteomic approaches and mass spectrometry, her work aims to discover new drug targets and develop highly sensitive diagnostic tools. Additionally, she explores the molecular interactions between pathogens and vectors like Aedes aegypti to enhance vector control strategies.
