Associate Professor Dr Choong Yee Siew
Dr. Choong Yee Siew is an Associate Professor at the Institute for Research in Molecular Medicine (INFORMM), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). She holds a PhD in Structural Biology from USM and has established herself as a specialist in the intersection of biology and computational science. Her research focuses on Bioinformatics and Structural Biology, with a particular emphasis on Computer-Aided Drug Design (CADD) and protein modeling. Dr. Choong utilizes molecular docking and simulation techniques to study protein-ligand interactions, aiming to discover potential therapeutic inhibitors for diseases like cancer and tuberculosis. Her work also involves the structural characterization of diagnostic biomarkers, such as those for Salmonella Typhi and Brugia malayi, to improve the sensitivity and specificity of molecular diagnostic kits.
