23 July 2026, Institute for Research in Molecular Medicine (INFORMM) welcomed 10 teachers and 57 students from Sekolah Menengah Agama Al Amin Tropicana. This visit was part of a two-day educational program designed to enhance students' learning outside the classroom. It offered a great chance to inspire young minds and expand their knowledge through fun activities that explore different subjects and environments!
During the visit, INFORMM organized several interactive STEM activities aimed at introducing students to fundamental concepts and techniques in biomedical and molecular research. These hands-on sessions allowed participants to engage in scientific learning outside of the traditional classroom setting.
One of the featured activities was the “DNA Detective” station, where students were tasked with constructing DNA structures using provided molecular models. This activity helped students understand the basic components and arrangement of DNA while also encouraging teamwork and problem-solving skills.
Additionally, students participated in a station focusing on the pH properties of substances. They conducted simple experiments using pH indicator strips to determine the acidity and alkalinity of various samples. Participants were also introduced to serial dilution, a fundamental technique widely used in molecular biology and laboratory research. Through guided demonstrations, students learned the principles and applications of dilution techniques in scientific experiments.
The program reflects INFORMM’s continued commitment to community engagement and STEM education outreach by sharing its expertise with the younger generation. Such initiatives provide valuable exposure to scientific research and inspire students to pursue future studies and careers in science-related fields.
The visit concluded at approximately 2.30 p.m. with a token-of-appreciation exchange ceremony between the representative of the Director of INFORMM, Dr. Khairul Mohd Fadzli Mustaffa, and the school principal, Mr. Mohammed Hamzi Hassan.
