Dr Chew Ai Lan

Dr. Chew Ai Lan is a Senior Lecturer at the Institute for Research in Molecular Medicine (INFORMM), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). She is an alumna of USM, having completed both her BSc in Microbiology and her PhD in Biotechnology at the university. Her research expertise is centered on Bioprocessing and Enzyme Technology, with a strong focus on industrial biotechnology and molecular therapeutics. Dr. Chew’s work includes investigating DNA topoisomerases for pharmaceutical applications, exploring the therapeutic potential of natural plant extracts in cancer treatment, and developing innovative diagnostic biomarkers, such as Fc gamma receptors (FcγRs). Her interdisciplinary approach bridges microbiology, proteomics, and oncology to advance point-of-care diagnostics and sustainable healthcare solutions.
