Sam Mohan Aruputham, PhD

SamMohanDr. Sam Mohan was formerly the Southeast Asia Regional Director for Agilent Technologies, Life Sciences Group. He was responsible for building the company’s product strategy, implementation, lifecycle management and partner integration, combined with overseeing all global brand and communications activities. He holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from University Pertanian Malaysia (UPM).

Dr Sam began his career in the early 90’s as a veterinary officer in the Veterinary Research Institute (VRI) Ipoh. He obtained his Master of Science degree while working at VRI and collaborated with associated foreign agencies i.e. the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR), where he was the liaison officer to adapt local and international policies for better co-operation. After which, he joined the Biotech Industry and worked with GE Healthcare, Bio-Rad Laboratories and Agilent Technologies till 2014.

Today, Dr Sam runs a Biotech trading company (Treecode), which has branches in South East Asia and an Animal Clinic (Windsor Animal Hospital) in Tanjung Tokong, Penang.

Hitendra Joshi, D.J.N.

HitendraJoshiMr. Hitendra Joshi has been with the Medical Devices industry for more than 30 years spending most of his career with B. Braun Medical Industries Sdn. Bhd. in Penang, where he currently serves as the Head Government Affairs & Market Access for the Asia Pacific region. He joined B. Braun as a Regional Sales Manager in 1986 and was later posted to India as the Country Manager. He continued as the Head of Sales and Marketing for the Asia-Pacific region with the company's biggest Division.

In 1994, he was in the team that represented Malaysia at the IBM Asia Pacific Business Games Challenge in Sydney. Mr. Joshi was once again posted to New Delhi as the Director for the SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) countries. Mr. Joshi has travelled widely and enjoys working in the diverse business and cultural environment.

Mr. Joshi has been the Secretary of AMMI (Association of Malaysian Medical Industries) for a number of terms. He is currently the Chairman of the Association. Mr. Joshi is a strong advocate for the medical devices industry and has been a speaker at seminars and conferences on the industry both in Malaysia and abroad. Mr. Joshi was also a member of the Medical Devices Oversight Committee in PEMANDU in 2011-2012.

Mr. Joshi holds a Bachelor in Science (Zoology) and a Masters in Business Administration (Marketing). Additionally, he has a Cert. Dip. in Accounting and Finance from ACCA. As a student, Mr. Joshi attended St. Xavier's Institution in Penang.

In July 2011, Mr Joshi was conferred the Darjah Johan Negeri by His Excellency the Governor of Penang.

Dr. Klaus Hochleitner, PhD

KlausHochleitnerDr. Klaus Hochleitner obtained his Dr. rer. nat. (PhD) in Cancer Research from the University of Essen Medical School, Germany in 1992. He has many years of experience in diagnostics, particularly in the development of lateral flow tests. He has successfully helped clients development projects, and is an expert at trouble shooting diagnostic tests by the roots cause analyses and protocol optimization.

He has previously worked at Schleicher & Schuell GmbH as a Laboratory Manager of Life Science (1993-1997), Business Development Diagnostic Components (1997-2001) and Application Manager Life Science and Diagnostics (2001-2005). After that, he led the R&D team at Whatman GmbH (2005-2011) in design development and design control of cellulosic and polymeric membranes in ISO 9001/ISO 13485 QM system.

Since 2011, he has been appointed as Global Lead Technology Product Specialist at GE Healthcare. This role sees him applying his vast experience to provide clinical, technical and professional guidance to the global field in developing applications in immuno- and molecular diagnostics. He holds several diagnostics-related patents.
