INFORMM SWEEPS 7 AWARDS AT MAJLIS PERSADA KENCANA USM

7 March 2023 – Majlis Persada Kencana is a prestigious event organized by the Institute of Postgraduate Studies to celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of USM students in research, publication, and innovation. INFORMM Penang and Kelantan, 2^nd Feb 2023 – After the successful visit last year by Dr Mirna Mirna Maarabouni, Keele University visit INFORMM again but this time, represented by Dr Anja Winter. Dr Anja is a lecturer and researcher in Biochemistry and Biophysics and the visit aimed particularly for potential research collaboration in the field. On behalf of USM, INFORMM was deeply honoured to host the visit by inviting other schools at USM Main Campus to join the discussion session with Dr Anja and was later extended to USM Health Campus.

27th July 2023 – INFORMM had the privilege of hosting a delegation from the Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology & Innovation (MRANTI) on the 27th of July 2023. The meeting aimed to foster research collaboration, explore funding opportunities, and strengthen networking ties. With a shared vision for innovation, both INFORMM and MRANTI led by Dr Mohamad Hazwan Mohd Daut were excited about the potential to accelerate research ideas toward commercialization. The visit included lab tours and in-depth discussions, laying the foundation for a promising partnership to drive technological advancements in the diagnostics and therapeutic niche areas. During the meeting, INFORMM’s Director passionately presented the institute’s visionary research direction, showcasing INFORMM’s ongoing cutting-edge research projects and providing a glimpse into the future plan of these initiatives. Dr Aziah also outlined the potential impact of INFORMM’s work and highlighted areas of mutual interest for MRANTI’s consideration in funding and collaboration. Consequently, MRANTI showed keen interest in INFORMM’s research endeavors, expressing enthusiasm to support projects that align with MRANTI’s vision of accelerating innovation for the nation’s benefit. The meeting concluded with a shared sense of optimism and commitment to nurturing a collaborative environment that fosters groundbreaking research, aiming to propel research ideas toward commercialization.

USM Penang, 24 March 2023 – Institute for Research in Molecular Medicine (INFORMM) today has set another significant milestone for a closer research collaboration with industry through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)with B. Braun Medical Industries Sdn. Bhd. (BMI). The collaboration aims to provide opportunity to address challenging research questions in healthcare with real-world applicationswhich could drives economic growth and creates a more skilled workforce through joint R&D programmes, workshops, and training; exchange of publication and future collaborations with the mutual intention to develop, support and enrich the research, educational and training programmes in the fields that will benefit both parties. The MoU was signed by USM Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ir. Dr. Abdul Rahman Mohamed, and on behalf of B. Braun, President Lam Chee Hong, Director of INFORMM, Associate Professor Dr. Aziah Ismail and B. Braun Vice-President for Research and Development (R&D), Fu Yongji.
